Does God Laugh
On our behalf?
Does he take time out
From his busy day
To ponder, to breathe?
Does he see
The humor in you and me?
Does he spare room
For a friendship
Between me and Him
Would that be such a sin?
Does he watch over us
like the warm glowing moon?
Or are we left with a clue,
a hint, a whisper, a tip?
Does he extend His hand?
Reveal a sensible insurance plan?
For the real fight
Is within the soul
Our own intimate
Super Bowl
Is the tension
Toward peace
A peace that preceded
Creation
Long before any people
Any war
Any treaty
Any nation
Long after, as well
Can we tell
when our lesson will come?
Can we know that the battle
is already won?
Is this why he holds the laughter
In his hand
Is this why our blessings
Are like the beach’s sand?
His grace the ocean
The rhythmic waves
his quiet emotion
His baptismal love potion
Interior Design
Cushion your injured heart
Only with love
And a vision of hope and joy,
Anticipate only God’s power
Guard it with
The shield of faith
This minute, this hour
Polished with discipline
And the honor
Of more love
Throw away the metallic armour
And listen to new words
From up above
In new light, and new color 'tis word
Luminescence
Beauty is found in rare spots
Places that tie our hearts in knots
In Spaces that our soul needs to grow
On Faces that smile with what they have come
To know
That knowledge within
And better, wisdom
Comes from a luminous fountain
That lives at our core
An eternal source of magnificence
Because it is more
Than mere beauty
If we are lucky,
If we look beyond
The hardened shells
And dried up wells
We learn the distilled truth
That our soul tells
That if we let it breathe
And if we drink of it
It is our essence
This luminescence
Wake the sleeping muse
Would that poetry awake the sleeping muse
drowning in the lass's forlorn inner pool
For the love we seek
Cannot be learned in meditation school
Is love not at its peak
But love that swims 'gainst the colder current
Love that believes through gossip and pain
Love that finds a way
For love is no accident
We make love the perfect gain
Not practical, but practically insane
Romantically committed to endure
It finds beauty also in the passionately plain
Bold confidence where before was unsure
And turns sour lemon juice into crisp clear champagne
Words and wines
For 'tis words that connect us to a common language
Words that speak to our hearts and minds
But beyond the words
Beyond symbols and signs
Are souls that connect us between the lines
To the richer grapes that when properly fed
Turn into finer wines
Love is a candle
Love is a candle
Constant
On a tidal flow
of light
'Tis an echo
When not a needle's prick
'Tis a breath
When not as thick
'Tis a candle
That burns bright
even In noble silence
Loves richer trick
A finer light
A warmer radiance
If not a forest fire
Would that when
It burns us
That its light might heal
The pain we so richly feel
